Job Description
As Colleague Conduct and Culture SME you will establish and maintain the Colleague Conduct and Culture team with responsibility for managing and refining the Employee Conduct Risk Policy in line with L&G’s Risk Framework, implementing relevant changes in line with new regulations and providing oversight and advice to the implementation by Divisional teams; instrumental in ensuring our continued compliance with the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR) and that appropriate colleague disclosures are recorded and acted upon in line with regulatory expectation.
What you'll be doing:
* Policies and Frameworks: To set, maintain and manage the Employee Conduct Risk Policy ensuring it appropriately reflects the requirements of SMCR, as set out in the Group Risk Framework, and consider regulatory/legal developments and evolutionary controls and tooling to ensure procedures and standards remain appropriate.
* Management Information: Ongoing review, analysis, and interpretation of management information from across L&G. Building on this to contribute to thought leadership, reports for governance fora and identify areas for further consideration / oversight. Reports will include compliance with SMCR and the Employee Conduct Risk Policy (including breaches of Accounting Dealing, Conflicts of Interest and Gifts and Hospitality.
* SMCR: Oversee the governance processes ensuring the Group’s ongoing compliance with SMCR including the coordination of the annual Fitness and Probity (F&P) process, maintenance of the Management Responsibility Maps, and act as a key point of contact for Senior Managers and certified employees in relation to queries, organisational changes, and authorisations.
* Advice and Guidance: Provide regulatory compliance and conduct risk advice, guidance, and challenge to Divisional and Group Function teams in respect of colleague conduct matters (including SMF responsibility mapping, conflicts of interest and Personal Account Dealing). This will include the preparation and delivery of relevant training to ensure appropriate awareness across all areas of the Group.
* Colleague conduct investigations: Responsible for defining and establishing investigation and intelligence analytics, reporting and visualisation strategy for (potential) conduct rule breaches including that all colleagues are taking appropriate account of the needs and characteristics of retail customers in line Consumer Duty. Provide holistic and entity specific insights that are timely, accurate and meaningful to entity boards, risk committees and other relevant fora to inform decision making.
* Risk Governance: Responsible for the integrity of records maintained within the Colleague Conduct and Culture team including through STAR and Conduct Breach referrals processes. Provide assurance to the Head of Regulatory Affairs and Colleague Conduct, and Information Security and Data Protection functions that all aspects of data protection, retention and deletion requirements are met in line with company requirements and regulatory expectations.
* Risk Management Performance Measures: To coordinate the Risk Review of Code Staff and Divisional CEOs in line with the Group’s Remuneration Policy on a half-yearly basis allowing an informed opinion to be reached by the Group CRO.
* People Management: To take the lead in all matters regarding the management of the Colleague Conduct and Culture team, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
* Strong knowledge of insurance, investment management and retirement products/sectors.
* Strong knowledge of relevant sections of the FCA Handbook (PRIN, SYSC, COCON, SUP, FIT and PRA Rulebook and associated documents so that relevant rules and guidance can be identified and interpreted quickly.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure high quality delivery of management information and presentations in meetings and other forums.
* High attention to detail and ability to work effectively, both individually and within a team.
* Ability to maintain effective relationships with management and external parties.
* Ability to deliver practical solutions to problems and implement improvements to systems, processes, or controls.
* Extensive experience in financial services, preferably life, pensions, and asset management sectors.
* Excellent at providing technical compliance and risk advice and guidance which is well calibrated with consideration of business and regulatory priorities.
* Strong experience and comfortable influencing at all levels.
* Sound judgement in the effective management of issues.
* Strong drafting skills.
* Logical thinking in the management / collation of regulatory applications / returns.
* Experience in people management/supervisory roles with responsibility for performance management and employee wellbeing.
