A recruitment and retention allowance may be available for an exceptional candidate.
About this role:
Permanent - Full Time
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed Teacher of Religious Studies to join the Humanities faculty at Wardle Academy. The Humanities faculty is a well established and supportive faculty with a real collaborative approach. Colleagues regularly support each other with teaching outside of their subject area; therefore teaching another Humanities subject (History/Geography/Citizenship) would be advantageous but not essential. We wish to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher, who has a passion for developing students’ knowledge to become culturally, socially and politically engaged in their communities and promotes the Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development of students. You will maximise the potential of our students by raising their aspirations as well as their attainment.
This post would be suitable for both experienced and newly qualified teachers.
About Our School:
At Wardle Academy our mission is simple; we believe that the young people in our care should receive an education that promotes lifelong learning. We also believe in supporting our pupils so that they contribute much to society. Both elements are equally important.
The habits that enable everyone in our community to engage with our mission are held in the Wardle Way, a set of principles that we hold dear…

At Wardle Academy, we are committed to ensuring that students are fully prepared for transitions throughout their learning; students have an entitlement to extend their learning beyond the academy day; students’ learning is underpinned by the Wardle Way in order to develop rounded, tolerant and aspirational members of the academy and the wider community.
Through the Personal Development Learning Journey, we are able to empower students with knowledge and skills that have both practical and intrinsic value which are embodied by ‘The Wardle Way Student’.
Wardle Academy is proud of its extensive enrichment opportunities that are offered to its students. School life is not just about academic achievement. We believe that by providing access to a wide range of sporting, academic and artistic extra-curricular activities, students are nurtured to success, both academically and pastorally.
Wardle Academy has a strong tradition in music. Music tuition is free with over 250 students playing instruments. Our brass bands are nationally and internationally recognized. Our Youth band are the National and European Brass Band Champions for 2019.
The school is an active member of the REAL Trust, Pioneer Trust, the Manchester Nexus SCITT and Rochdale Pioneer Partnership SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) supporting education and training in schools across Rochdale and Greater Manchester.
What We Look For:
* A commitment to lifelong learning and a willingness to embrace ongoing professional development opportunities.
* A contagious passion for English and a desire to ignite curiosity in young minds.
* Strong English Literature and Language knowledge and a knack for explaining complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
