Health Courier Services (HCS) provides clinical logistics/transport services across all Health Boards in Wales, and is seeking a Supervisor /Team Leader.
On average the service sorts (via its own mail sorting hubs), delivers and collects up to 120,000 items of mail/medical notes per week, and transports over 5 million movements of samples of Blood Products and Pathology in accordance with Transport of Dangerous Goods legislative requirements per year.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
Service Delivery:
1. Service delivery within the local area.
2. Maintain effective working relations with SC, L &T stakeholders, internal and external contacts and the wider HCS Team.
3. Ensure contract agreements are complied with and fully understood by staff.
4. Assist in achieving the optimum use of Health Courier Services resources within the Region.
Resource Management:
1. Supervise/organise the overall activities of Health Courier Services staff, roster cover and annual leave.
2. Monitor and maintain records appertaining to the vehicles used by the Health Courier Services and liaise with Fleet office for servicing and repair.
3. Instigate training and development programmes for Health Courier Services staff and ensure performance is satisfactory.
4. Ensure operational compliance with HCS Standard Operating Procedures, proposing and implementing local Standard Operating Procedures where required.
5. Undertake Risk Assessments where necessary.
Reports and Statistics analysis:
1. Prepare reports for and submit statistical information to Health Courier Services Manager, as and when required.
2. Monitor service delivery and performance using activity records and statistical information to ensure contract compliance.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Supervisory Management Qualification (NVQ/ILM Level 3 Minimum) or equivalent experience
* Sound knowledge of Logistics Planning
* Basic knowledge of Highway Code, and relevant legislation and regulations on carriage of goods, including clinical waste, dangerous goods, and where required, radioactive isotopes
* Sound knowledge of use of a range of vehicles up to and including 7.5 tonnes plus (where required), and relevant equipment, and basic knowledge of vehicle Maintenance.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety.
Experience
* Experience of Dealing with Staff, Customers and liaison with internal and external NHS contacts, patients and public at all levels
Skills
* Able to work alone with minimum supervision or as a member of a team with the ability to motivate others.
* Good verbal or written skills able to convey information and complete all necessary documentation accurately and legibly to include report writing.
