Electronics Design & Production Engineer
NDO Consultants Ltd are recruiting on behalf of their client for an Electronics Design & Production Engineer.
The client is a British manufacturer of electronic signal conditioning and filter instrumentation since 1965. Following a takeover in January 2022, the company has been through a period of expansion with new offices in the USA and India. The company has also introduced new products and expanded into accelerometers, cable assemblies, and other associated accessories.
Following a relocation of the company HQ to Thetford, Norfolk, they continue to innovate and plan for further global expansion. They are looking for the right people to support this growth both locally and globally.
Their customer base is diverse and includes many of the world’s biggest engineering and manufacturing companies. They have a long reputation for high quality and excellent customer service, something they strive to build on whilst also supporting the development of tomorrow’s engineer.
The Role:
Following the recent relocation of the Company’s HQ, they are looking to take on an experienced and knowledgeable analogue electronics engineer who can support product development/design as well as production of the existing range of high-performance active filters and signal conditioning solutions. The products are based on proprietary filter designs which were developed by the Company’s founders in 1965 and remain one of the World’s most effective electronic filter solutions.
The role will be based full time (would consider part time) at the new Company HQ in Thetford, Norfolk.
You will have the opportunity to further develop their existing products whilst also innovating completely new signal conditioning solutions that integrate digital control and other more flexible features which are increasingly in demand from our customers.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate clear knowledge of analogue electronic design for related circuits in the signal processing, amplifier, or data acquisition fields. The ability to understand the current product range from its existing circuit designs is essential and to provide options for taking them forward with new features such as integration, RMS, and improved signal conditioning options.
The use of circuit design and simulation software is clearly a skill asset and should be available. The ideal candidate would also have a good understanding of mechanical 3D CAD, although this is not essential.
A desire to move into basic software control of several of the company’s existing ethernet PC-based filters, so support of this design and development aspect is a huge benefit.
As a growing business, all team members will need to have a flexible can-do attitude and a willingness to muck in with the team to get the job done and add value across all aspects of the business wherever possible.
Skills/Experience:

1. In-depth knowledge of analogue electronics
2. Must be able to read and interpret a circuit design, understand bills of materials (BOM’s)
3. Use appropriate electronics design and simulation software
4. Highly skilled in manual soldering using a range of soldering equipment, this must include miniature component soldering, surface mount, and through hole.
5. Experience in researching new and alternative components as part of electronic design development
6. Use of Excel, Word, Outlook
Desirable
1. Mix of mechanical assembly knowledge and experience
2. Be able to design a suitable circuit and specify required components to achieve an outline product brief
3. Specific experience in the electronic instrumentation industry would be beneficial
4. Experience working within and following an organised quality control structure for product design including change notes, document control
5. Able to find and communicate with suppliers to negotiate price/availability of components
Individual:

The town also boasts a railway station with direct trains from Cambridge, Ely, and Norwich. To complete the flexible travel options, The HQ office is only a few minutes’ walk from Thetford Bus station.
