Senior Sporting Assistant

Hours of Work: Full Time (37.5 hours per week). Core hours are 09:00 until 17:30, Mon – Fri

Role Purpose
The UK is synonymous with rallying, following the iconic RAC rallies of the 1980s and ‘90s and the success of the late British legends Colin McRae and Richard Burns in the World Rally Championship. Today, Motorsport UK plays a pivotal role in the delivery of hundreds of Rally events taking place across the country; from multi-venue stage events at British Rally Championship level, to 12-car navigational rallies and much in between. The Senior Sporting Assistant will play a key role in assisting the continued success of these disciplines in the UK.
Primary Objectives
* To support the Head of Rallying in relation to all matters related to Rallying.
* To support in the implementation of the strategic plan for Rallying.
* To support the community in the delivery of associated events across the country.
* To support the maintenance and implementation of regulations for the community.
Additional Responsibilities
* Support in the undertaking of key administration tasks including but not limited to, checking event safety requirements and safety plans and reviewing post-event reporting.
* Working with the Discipline Heads to ensure any key actions from event reporting, Committees and review groups are completed and resolutions provided.
* Assist in the creation, review and implementation of documentation outlining the strategic future of the discipline(s).
* Supporting the Competitions and Clubs team with queries arising from events, applications & regulations, dealing with difficult complaints.
* Liaising with events to facilitate the completion of the Forestry Allocation processes, together with administrative support to those involved in Self-Repair schemes.
* Assisting with the preparation of documents and recommendations to the championship control panel as necessary. Coordinating the applications, notices of intent, and approval of championship regulations.
* Work with the Sporting Assistant to undertake the Championship permit renewal process, including the Notice of Intents.
* Liaising with members of the Motorsport UK community via various communication channels (inc. emails, telephone, letters) to ensure their needs and requirements are met.
* Supporting the annual production of relevant National Competition Rules material, working with Head of Rallying to ensure their respective regulations are correctly adopted.
* Assisting with the updating and delivery of the Stage Rally Safety Requirements (RallyFuture).
* Providing support in the delivery of webinars and training events to the community.
* At times, attending weekend events with or on behalf of the Head of Rallying.
Essential
* Prior experience (either working or competing) and knowledge of Rallying, as well as a passion for motorsport in general.
* Prior customer service experience, dealing with complex queries, and communicating with a wide variety of stakeholders.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including telephone manners.
* Demonstrable accuracy and attention to detail.
* Disciplined time management and organisational skills, with an ability to evidence logical prioritisation of work.
* A flexible, collaborative approach to problem solving.
* Evidence of implementing new ways of working to improve both efficiency and effectiveness.
* Foundational software skills / experience, including Microsoft Suite, Adobe, Collaborative platforms (SharePoint, Google, similar).
* The ability to travel to and from the Motorsport UK offices in Bicester, Oxfordshire.
* Eligible to work in the UK.
Desirable
* Familiarity with the governance structure of International Motorsport (FIA Sporting Codes).
* Familiarity with the governance of UK Motorsport and the Motorsport UK National Competition Rules.
