Are you organised, proactive and enthusiastic about providing exceptional customer experiences? Are you looking for a varied role where no two days are the same, and your work helps to support a diverse range of activities? If these qualities describe you then you might be who we’re looking for to join us in the Valley Graphics team at the University of Southampton.
About the Role
The Delivery Driver is an important role in Valley Graphics team. Valley Graphics is an internal, multi-function service offering design, print and signage to meet the needs of the University of Southampton community. With customers from both staff and students at the University and from external organisations, the Valley Graphics team’s extensive experience and knowledge of design services and print and signage products aims to add value in delivering an excellent customer experience.
You’ll work collaboratively with your colleagues across the Valley Graphics team to complete the crucial, final stage of the customer journey – the delivery of a wide range of print and signage products.
This often involves face-to-face interaction with our customers, so you will need to be polite, friendly and a confident ambassador for Valley Graphics. Organisation and efficiency will be key skills to bring to the role, allowing you to safely deliver goods and parcels (both large and small) to designated addresses within specified timeframes and with proof of delivery recorded.
What you’ll do
Provide professional, effective, timely and customer-focused delivery services to the University community, delivering between various sites and external partners (typically within a 50-mile radius but occasionally beyond).
Plan your own daily delivery schedules and determine appropriate delivery routes based on customer requirements, business priorities and timeliness. Plan for deliveries outside of normal mileages, arranging permits etc. if required.
Deal with face-to-face customer queries at the point of delivery, or escalate appropriately to other colleagues in the team to ensure smooth completion of the customer journey and give an exceptional customer experience.
Contribute to the ongoing development of delivery services and processes through collaborative continuous improvement activity within the team.
What you’ll bring
A full clean UK driving licence.
Previous work experience within a delivery driver role.
Great communication skills, with the ability to seek information and clarify detail if required.
Experience in a customer facing role with an awareness of how to meet customer needs.
The ability to prioritise and manage your allocated workload, demonstrating flexibility to meet changing or conflicting customer needs.
The University of Southampton is a research-driven institution, home to some of the world’s leading minds, expanding our knowledge and passing it on to future generations. iSolutions is the University’s IT support service whose 230+ staff support the delivery of the University’s research and education activities as well as the usual business operations. We would love you to join us and help change the world for the better.
