Job overview
We are looking to appoint dynamic and forward-thinking Qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our already established team qualified ACP’s to work within the Emergency Department at the Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle and West Cumberland Hospital Whitehaven. We are looking for clinicians with commitment, flexibility, enthusiasm, excellent clinical skills, and who are keen to work as part of a hardworking and dedicated team.
They will demonstrate safe, critical decision-making in the clinical decision-making process and will work collaboratively with Consultants and multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedure. They will work to ensure wherever possible that junior medical staff are enabled to meet their training and development requirements.
Main duties of the job
Advanced clinical practice embodies the ability to manage clinical care in partnership with individuals, families and carers. It includes the analysis and synthesis of complex problems across a range of settings, enabling innovative solutions to enhance people’s experience and improve outcomes.
Both sites operate a fully functional level 1 Emergency Department which consists of an area for minors/majors/paediatrics and resus. As part of this post you are expected under supervision to cover all these areas within the emergency department, contributing to the flow of emergency department patients and actively assessing, treating and either admitting/discharging or referring patient to appropriate area or speciality.
The role encompasses undertaking assessment of undifferentiated patients attending ED using a range of different assessment and management methods under the direct supervision of the ED consultants and senior clinicians. They will demonstrate safe, critical decision-making in the clinical decision-making process and will work collaboratively with emergency medicine Consultants/Senior clinicians and multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures relevant to the ED.

Qualifications
* Registered healthcare practitioner with post education experience in either emergency/acute or pre-hospital medicine
* Proven Leadership skills
* Educated to Master’s degree level in Advanced Practice
* Independent Non Medical Prescriber
* Portfolio demonstrates continual professional development i.e. RCEM or willingness to undertake
* Minor injuries course
Knowledge
* Professional knowledge acquired through degree/diploma supplemented by post-registration experience and knowledge of the clinical area applied for
* Evidence of management skills gained through theory and / or practice
* Experience of mentoring and developing staff
Experience
* Experience in working at an advanced level in Emergency Medicine
* Experience managing critically ill or unwell patients
Skills and Ability
* Ability to problem solve, analyse, compare and interpret complex information before making a decision
* Prioritise clinical workload and assess associated risks, taking appropriate action
* Demonstrate good organisational skills
* Ability to present information to individuals and groups as required using appropriate resources
