Requirements
You will have 60 relevant credit points towards first year of social work degree (one of HNC in social care or social sciences, K100, K101 or DD100).
Responsibilities
You will provide supervisory and support services and carry a caseload of appropriate cases. Work alongside and under the direction of a senior or professionally qualified worker to carry out specific tasks. You will manage a caseload of the range of interventions i.e. diversion for sexual offences, unpaid work and voluntary Throughcare, by offering support for practical matters and community reintegration upon release from long term prison sentences. You will prepare written work to high standard, including assessment reports and completion reports to the Scottish Court Service, Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service and other relevant services, within timescales required. You will undertake announced and unannounced home visits in line with the national guidance and attend prisons where required.
The Individual
You will have experience of working with relevant service user groups. You will have good oral and written communication skills, an understanding of issues affecting relevant service group and good planning and organisational skills. You will have a commitment to maintaining high standards of care. You must be able to work flexibly between 8am - 8pm. Driving licence is desirable. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
