Executive Operations Officer (DPO) & Staff Director for SS&L
A Board Financial Advisor will provide SS&L with financial expertise and experience. As such, they will significantly contribute to the work of the Board of Directors and the success of SS&L. They will work jointly with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Board, and the Audit, Finance & Risk Committee to support SS&L. The Board Financial Advisor will also provide challenge, support, and scrutiny as SS&L strives to meet and exceed its strategic aims.
The post holder will bring significant insight gained from experience in related financial fields, which will allow them to make a valuable contribution to discussions and decision-making at Board level. The role is removed from the operational function of the organisation, allowing the Board Financial Advisor to bring an impartial and objective perspective. The Board Financial Advisor is not a company director and will have a period of tenure of up to 3 years, with an option to extend for a further three.

Roles and Responsibilities of Board Financial Advisor
* To provide ongoing and unbiased financial advice to the CEO and Board of Directors. Ensure that all advice is given in the best long-term interest of the organisation, its members, and stakeholders.
* Support the overall direction of SS&L through good financial governance and clear strategic planning.
* Provide advice and guidance to enable SS&L to comply with legislative and regulatory requirements.
* Exercise sound financial management and maintain financial viability whilst meeting SS&L’s objectives.
Time Commitment
The Board of Directors meet 4 times per year. Board meetings usually last for 2 hours at our Bridgwater or remotely via Microsoft Teams. The Board Financial Advisor would also advise our Audit, Finance & Risk Committee. The Committee meets 4 times per year. Meetings are online via Microsoft Teams.
