Job overview
We are looking for a Flexible Catering Assistant to support at Sir Robert Peel Community Hospital in Tamworth & Samuel Johnson, Lichfield.
Responsible for the preparation and delivery of patient food services at ward level, working as part of the Communities Facilities team.
Ensuring that all hot meals are ordered and all sandwiches, salads are prepared and served to the patients as per their dietary requirements. Responsibilities for all the food safety documentation with regard to all aspects of the food service and stock rotation and temperature recording.
The successful candidate will be supported by the Facilities Management team. A comprehensive training package will be provided, and other elements of training will be discussed through the UHDB Talent Mapping Process.
Candidates must be able to complete Food Safety and Allergen training and to be able to complete the food safety paperwork. English at Level 2 will be required.
Shifts including days, afternoons and weekends.
Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for the beverages, breakfasts, lunches and suppers for all patients. Making porridge, toast and serving on the ward.
2. Serving food at lunch and supper. Updating the patient special diet forms throughout the service each day, liaising with the nursing team for dietary updates.
3. Completing all food safety paperwork, temperature sheets, ensuring sufficient cutlery is available. Collecting in the patient trays/crockery at the end of each service and washing through the main dishwashers. Ensuring the crockery is clean ready for the next service.
4. Responsible for ordering and ensuring patient choice is a priority wherever possible.
5. Reporting any issues to the Facilities Supervisors.
