We are looking for an Aerothermal Engineer with expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to support the prototyping and development of microturbines. This role involves close collaboration with experimental teams to validate simulations and improve designs. You will report to the Design Lead and play a key role in optimizing jet engines.
Responsibilities
1. Conduct CFD simulations, focusing on reacting flows, multiphase fluid dynamics, and heat transfer to optimize microturbine performance.
2. Work closely with experimental teams to validate simulation results and refine designs.
3. Develop, validate, and optimize simulation models and workflows for turbine development.
4. Analyse thermodynamic performance and contribute to design improvements.
5. Interpret simulation results, generate technical reports, and present findings.
6. Create custom algorithms and processes to improve design workflow efficiency and fidelity.
7. Maintain high-quality standards for design iterations, models, and documentation.
Qualifications
1. Strong proficiency in CFD tools (e.g., Altair, Fluent, Converge or similar).
2. Experience in reaction flow simulations and thermodynamic analysis.
3. MSc with industrial experience, or a PhD in a relevant field (Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field).
4. Good understanding of jet engines, microturbines, and thermodynamic principles.
5. Creative problem-solving and design skills.
6. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
7. Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Fusion, SolidWorks).
10. FEA analysis for structural analysis.
11. Surface-based modelling.
12. Experience with turbine design.
13. Good understanding of consumer electronics, technology and devices, or engineering consultancy.
