Wood is recruiting for a Measurement Technician to join its Asset Management and Operational Services (AMOS) group within our Renewables division based in Glasgow. The role will be based at the Glasgow office with on-site working across the UK and internationally as required. The Role The Measurement Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of Wind measurement equipment that is placed at the top of MET Towers that can be up to 100ft tall. A significant part of the role will be out in the field and involve climbing the towers to deliver the required service. However, the technician will also be required to spend some time in the workshop to repair equipment that has been taken in and to prepare for upcoming project requirements. They will also be responsible for providing reports on the data acquired from the equipment. The technician will often work independently or as part of a small team to ensure delivery of Wind Measurement projects across a portfolio of clients in the UK and internationally. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a hands-on electro mechanical technician role, with a great aptitude for solving mechanical and electrical technical problems. As a key part of this role will involve climbing towers at a significant height, the successful candidate must be able to work at heights and be physically fit.. Expected: Previous experience in a hands-on Mechanical and Electrical Technician position Previous experience working at significant height Diligent approach to Health and Safety (H&S) and working knowledge of H&S requirements for working at height Hold a driving license valid for use in the UK IT skills particularly in MS Word and Excel Be willing to travel in the UK and internationally Have a good understanding of H&S requirements within in the renewables industry Be able to demonstrate a flexible, practical and proactive approach to your work requirements Be able to demonstrate a high level of problem-solving ability and initiative Previous experience with report writing Desirable: Awareness of all key renewable energy technologies ideally with a focus on wind measurement and or instrumentation Experience in the development, construction and operation of onshore and offshore met mast projects Knowledge of relevant IEC 61400 standards Skills in data recovery and data manipulation IOSH Managing Safely (Or equivalent) Previous experience in the Renewables industry
