Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm Pay: Dependant on experience, bonus opportunity of up to 20% of salary per year Location: Sewell Head Office, HU7 0DG Role Overview The Contract Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of any given projects to the client’s satisfaction and in accordance with Sewell’s policies, procedures, and cultural approach, known as Construction Excellence. The role’s responsibilities are split into the cultural requirements, known as “Software,” and the technical and procedural requirements, known as “Hardware.” Key Responsibilities Lead delivery as a single team by working closely with our clients, subcontractors and the design team towards a clear common goal. Be the leader of several projects, at times, simultaneously and set the pace and energy of the projects. Ensuring clear responsibilities within the project teams and delivery. Adequately source projects whilst ensuring adequate resources and roles are in place to deliver requirements. Utilise appraisal systems to provide feedback on objectives and identify training & development needs. Support the Director of Construction Services in ensuring that individual personal business plans are monitored and fulfilled. Positively coach and motivate the team to support delivery. Responsible for the performance management of the supply chain and implementation of the ‘Vitality Curve’ (in line with our procedures) across the projects ensuring the supply chain is treat fairly with recognition of performance beyond expectations along with swift and appropriate measures being implemented in addressing underperformance. Providing constructive feedback continuously to all members of the supply chain to ensure a positive relationship is nurtured and the projects goals are achieved. Ensuring our projects achieve completion, facilitating soft landing meetings to set client expectations of the product at completion. Addressing any defects which may arise following completion including those identified at the end of and defects liability period. Responsibility for the health, safety and wellbeing performance of any given project, making sure appropriate resource and preconstruction information is in place to ensure the safe delivery of any given project. Hold regular coordination meetings on a daily and weekly basis depending on the project. Ensure that quality bids for tenders are completed in a timely manner to be submitted and attend bid reviews with the commercial teams. Price small works to the value of £100k. Responsibility for the financial performance of any given project, ensuring there are appropriate resources in place to achieve the commercial targets. Oversee planning and effective implementation of the planning conditions, mitigate the impact of any loss of capital through waste time, materials or substandard installations which require re-work. Ensure there is adequate resource in place on any given project to ensure the design is delivered in a timely manner to procure members of the supply chain. Responsibility for the production and implementation of short-term planning and programming to ensure individual milestones are met in the project along with the overall completion. The Contract Manager will ensure there is adequate resource in place on any given projects to ensure the projects are delivered to our expected quality standard with an aim of zero defects at completion. Ensuring there are no breaches in environmental law and the disruption caused by any works are minimal by managing the environmental performance of any given project The role responsibilities include, but are not limited to the points detailed above. Requirements As well as exhibiting our company behaviours of being Positive, Professional, Customer Focused, a Team Player and Doing the Right Thing, the successful person will have the following: Essential: Hold a full driving licence, valid in the UK. Hold a valid 5-day CITB SMSTS Certificate. A proven track record in controlling and managing multiple construction projects, including the management and coordination of subcontractors. Experience in leadership and the ability to demonstrate strong leadership qualities. Previous experience working with programming and web-based document storage software. A positive and professional attitude. Ability to work using own initiative, but also as part of a close-knit team. Excellent levels of computer literacy and fluency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Have a proactive attitude towards delivering construction works to a world-class standard. Hold excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with senior clients and subcontractors. Possess excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a variety of tasks. Possess a positive approach to learning, development, and progression. Have a flexible outlook towards hours worked (some out-of-hours working may be required). Have a working knowledge of current Health and Safety practices. Have a good commercial understanding and the ability to use Microsoft Excel to a reasonable level, including pricing small works up to the value of £100k.
