We are currently looking for outstanding mental health staff nurses (Band 5) to join our adult mental health inpatient service at Berrywood Hospital, Northampton.
We are looking for enthusiastic staff nurses to join our team and work on a 12 bedded adult mixed admission ward and our female acute ward. The ages on this ward range predominantly from 18 to 65 years. The ward provides a modern, needs led acute mental health setting, that aims to treat service users with dignity and respect in an appropriate, safe, and supportive environment for service users, staff, and visitors. Staff will work in a non-discriminatory and collaborative way by accepting work with a service users understanding of their own issues. This involves acknowledging the individual service users' culture, life experience, protected characteristics, and strengths to promote their recovery.
You will be an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse OR soon to be newly qualified we will also accept applications from Registered Learning Disability Nurses.
We will support you to take responsibility for your learning and development.
Ensure that care is co-produced to a consistently high standard.
Demonstrate knowledge of the Mental Health Act (1983).
Be flexible with shift working including day and night rotation in the service which operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
Main duties of the job
1. Co-produce individualised programmes of care and be responsible for assessing service user's needs under the supervision of the Charge Nurse or Keyworker.
2. Ensure that service users' mental state, needs, risks and strengths are comprehensively assessed, and that multi-disciplinary care is co-produced to a consistently high standard.
3. Ensure that service users have a Care Programme designed and delivered in line with their assessed needs, risks, strengths and wishes.
4. Act as Keyworker under supervision and as directed by the Charge Nurse.
5. Deputise for the Charge Nurse in his/her absence and carry out the duties associated with this position.
6. Demonstrate knowledge with regard to the delivery of care to service users detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 acting as their advocate when appropriate.
7. Work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to deliver programmes of activities/care.
8. Participate in continual service development by the application of evidence-based practice.
9. Communicate effectively with members of the multi-disciplinary team, service users, carers and visitors to the Ward.
10. Ensure nursing practice is fully reflected in the use of the Trust's Single Clinical Record.
11. Be flexible with regard to shift working including day and night rotation in the service which operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
