Job Description: Principle Scientist Location: Wrexham with 10% travel We’ve had an exciting position released working within our Manufacturing. Science and Technology (MS&T) team. This is a high visibility position within Ipsen, both internally and externally, where the successful candidate will bridge the gap between Ipsen and external clients and regulatory bodies. This exciting and dynamic role involves taking the lead in writing scientific reports on behalf of Ipsen, making previous experience and strong scientific knowledge essential. As the successful candidate you’ll have the opportunity to assert technical ownership and leadership in line with Ipsen's growth plans. Additionally, you’ll oversee advanced projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. This is an exciting time to join Ipsen and make a significant impact in the field of purification chromatography Key Responsibilities: Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the Purification Chromatography Community of Practice within Ipsen, able to develop other scientists working on the field and structure their work in order to achieve superior performance Oversee advanced projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. Mentor a team of scientists and associates. Ensure alignment with Pharmaceutical development teams. Scientific Expertise: Serve as the scientific leader for technical operations in purification chromatography Key contact when interacting with scientific bodies of MoH Design and implement advanced purification strategies for various molecules, current and future molecules in Ipsen pipeline Develop and implement strategic plans for research and development in alignment with organizational goals. Innovation and Development: Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging the development of new methodologies and technologies, in particular in information and knowledge gathering in order to have data-based decisions Train and guide research teams to adopt new chemical technologies. Drive positive environmental, health, and safety (EHS) cultural transformation initiatives. Compliance and Quality: Ability to find ways to comply with regulatory guidelines and requirements governing drug development and life cycle management, design and drive scientific programs able to generate data allowing to demonstrate equivalence of products while applying changes Prepare teams for successful regulatory inspections with no critical observations. Take ownership of solvent recovery and yield improvements Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders including operations, Program Management Asset Teams, quality, and senior leaders. Work closely with external vendors and customers to ensure project success and meet customer requirements. Knowledge & Experience: (essential) Relevant scientific degree in Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on chromatography. Solid hands-on experience in purification chromatography, including significant experience leading R&D projects Strong leadership and team management abilities Excellent team player with his peers and his program leads Exceptional analytical skills and ability to make quick, effective decisions. Clear communication and stakeholder management skills Resilience and ability to work with top leaders / senior management Knowledge & Experience: (preferred) Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on chromatography.
