Roles & Responsibilities: A large leisure park operator is seeking a Full-Time Personnel Manager responsible for the management of human resources at two of our UK visitor attractions in the North West. Blackpool Zoo is one of the UK’s most established medium sized zoos dedicated to the conservation and welfare of animal species from around the world. We pride ourselves on offering a dynamic, engaging, and educational experience for all our visitors. Incorporating an award winning zoo and associated F&B, retail, games, large soft play and education offer it is a highly respected and well known attraction in the North West region. Firmly established as one of the Lake District’s most popular visitor attractions, The Lakes Aquarium is located in a stunning location on the southern tip of Lake Windermere. Its a home to a diverse range of creatures from the waters of the world – from pike, piranhas and otters, to tree frogs, starfish and ducks. In a unique location it also offers retail and catering outlets. The job is based at Blackpool Zoo and incorporates the responsibilities of Blackpool Zoo and Lakes Aquarium Human Resources Management. The role will ensure a cohesive and consistent approach to managing our people in these two attractions throughout their journey with us from recruitment, development, welfare and future opportunities. The role will define the employer brand of the company related to corporate guidelines and strategies to strengthen staff loyalty, satisfaction and retention. It is also responsible for smooth processes concerning personal planning, payroll accounting, administration, budgeting, reporting and recruitment. These attractions are part of the Parques Reunidos group, one of Europe’s largest leisure and attraction operators with the aim to provide a safe and high quality experience for every visitor. As Personnel Manager, you will report to the Zoo Director regarding Blackpool Zoo and to the UK Director regarding Lakes Aquarium. You will be part of the Zoo’s senior management team, and work closely with the P&O team at Parques Reunidos corporate headquarters and the Personnel Manager of the attractions sister attractions in Bournemouth and Lakeside. Due to the difference in scale in each attraction it is anticipated that you will spend approx. 80% of your time working on Blackpool Zoo and 20% of your time on Lakes Aquarium. This role comes with a competitive salary of £42,000 plus bonus and benefits. Job description available on request. Requirements At least two years’ experience in Human Resource management at an organisation with 50 staff, ideally in a service business. Expertise in personnel legislation and best practise. Experience working with corporate ownership and being able to adapt corporate strategic policies at local level. Ability to work effectively under pressure and to manage sensitive and confidential information. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail. Proficiency with relevant software for preparing reports and presentations. The ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, trust and credibility. Calm, controlled and resilient demeanour. Experience in creating and managing personnel budgets and associated data analysis and reporting. Ability to manage and support a diverse range of staff of all levels and experiences. Ideally experienced in Workday or equivalent human resource management platform. Travel between Blackpool Zoo and Lakes Aquarium required on an average once per month basis. Exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner Ability to exude unwavering professionalism toward guests, team members, management and other human resources contacts. Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point Relevant CPID qualification preferred but not essential.
