YOUR ROLE In this exciting new role, you'll be directly reporting to the General Manager, taking the helm of the Defence Fulfilment Centre at our state-of-the-art Longtown facility. As the leader of this key operation, you'll be responsible for driving daily performance to ensure optimal budget management, efficiency, and service excellence, all while maintaining alignment with agreed KPIs. In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring QSHE standards and legal compliance are met across the board. As this is a brand-new facility, you'll be at the forefront of shaping its initial setup, culture, and workforce approach. Your leadership will set the tone for the facility's success and future growth YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES 80% of your time will be spent on site managing the day to day operations, but may be future opportunities for hybrid working arrangement Responsible for ensuring on time and in-full Service Delivery for the customer in accordance with agreed KPIs. The safe operation of Warehousing, Inbound and Outbound Distribution activities across the site, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation. Manage Warehouse optimisation and stock maintenance activities. Continuously seek to optimise the cost-effectiveness, productivity and customer service levels of the Warehousing through planned and regular communication mechanisms and the proactive assessing of the operational requirements. Operational decisions involving the deployment of employees and resources in consultation with Business Stream Managers with an impact on warehouse costs, employee relations and customer service. Support General Manager to manage local trade union relationships ensuring all issues are properly dealt with or escalated as required. Manage relationships with other departments, to ensure efficient operations and communications are achieved. YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES Ideally (but not essential) operated within the Military/Defence and Commercial Sectors Extensive management experience of operating within a commercial warehouse operation Exposure to operating within a commercial environment sufficient to develop effective customer service and commercial understanding.
