Job Description
We are seeking Senior Cost Managers to join our London-based Central and Local Government Cost Management Team supporting projects across central government. Candidates must have DV Security Clearance or be willing to obtain it.
The role will include working on a Ministry of Defence project with a requirement to be working client side from a Central London location for three days per week.
Our team handles a diverse range of projects for notable public sector organisations, including the refurbishment of listed buildings, office fit-out projects, and critical infrastructure.
This offer is contingent upon your successful completion of a security clearance process. Your employment with Turner & Townsend will be conditional upon obtaining and maintaining the required security clearance for the duration of your employment. This will include the Baseline Personal Security Standard (BPSS) and Developed Vetting (DV).
Please note that the security clearance process will involve background checks, interviews, and other assessments as deemed necessary by the relevant authorities.
Failure to obtain the required security clearance or any issues arising during the clearance process may result in the withdrawal of this offer or termination of employment.
Typical duties for the Senior Cost Manager will include:
1. Lead commercial delivery of various projects
2. Build professional relationships with clients and colleagues
3. Manage costs in line with project objectives
4. Monitor and report project costs accurately
5. Manage cost variance and contract cash flow
6. Collaborate with client and contractor teams
7. Manage contract changes effectively
8. Improve forecast and budget accuracy
9. Provide commercial support to stakeholders
10. Negotiate and agree on final accounts
11. Mentor junior staff
Requirements:
1. Excellent stakeholder communication
2. 5+ years of diverse project experience
3. Knowledge of NEC contracts and/or JCT
4. Expertise in cost and change management
5. Skills in valuation, risk management, procurement, and cost planning
6. Reporting proficiency
7. Collaborative and best-for-project attitude
8. People and commission management
9. Ability to drive project efficiencies
10. Strong understanding of construction industry technical matters
Qualifications:
1. Must have DV Security Clearance or willingness to gain DV Clearance
2. Proven track record of delivering high-quality cost management/quantity surveying services throughout the entire project lifecycle
3. Degree or HNC level qualification
4. Professional qualification desired (MRICS or similar)
5. Ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
