Relationships & Sex Education (RSE) Training Specialist (Band 6)
An opportunity has arisen to join Croydon Health Services' award winning Young People's Sexual Health Service.
The successful candidate will work within this dynamic team delivering high quality sex and relationships education (SRE) to young people within college, school and non-school settings across the borough of Croydon.
You will be required to deliver a variety of specialist training courses to the local workforce as part of the Public Health training programme and offer guidance and support on SRE issues.
The post holder will be required to take a lead role in the delivery of outreach activities and to support local sexual health campaigns.
This post requires a motivated and enthusiastic practitioner who can work autonomously with a range of stakeholders. You will need to be flexible as the role involves some early starts and occasional evening and weekend work.
You will have a proven track record in:
1. Working in the field of SRE and Sexual Health
2. Working with a range of young people on sexual health issues
3. Delivering training to professionals.
Please note that the role will include driving the Sexual Health outreach van and a clean UK driving licence is required.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the development and delivery of a wide range of universal and targeted prevention, education and support initiatives. This post will aim to contribute to reducing the number of teenage conceptions through preventative targeted support for young people, who are considered at greater risk of teenage pregnancy and poor sexual health. It will improve the capacity of local partners through the delivery of specialist RSE support and training.

1. Able to demonstrate an understanding of national policies pertaining to sexual health. e.g. Teenage Pregnancy and sexual health strategies
2. Knowledge and understanding of current issues relating to young peoples' sexual health
3. Able to demonstrate clear knowledge and understanding of best practice in the development and delivery of local and national programmes
4. Able to demonstrate in depth knowledge of safeguarding issues including requirements and processes
5. Demonstrates the ability to communicate/ influence/negotiate sensitive information within a variety of settings.
6. Able to demonstrate comprehensive understanding of cultural and other inclusion issues.

Experience

1. Previous work in the field of RSE and or sexual health
2. Experience of working with young people on RSE issues
3. Experience of providing support/advice to vulnerable young people e.g. CLA, NEET
4. Experience of planning and delivering training
5. Demonstrates experience of successful partnership working with multiple agencies e.g. statutory, voluntary organisations
