Role Overview
The Edit Producer will play a key role liaising with the editorial teams ahead of shoots, scripting interviews for key talent alongside scripting each episode and overseeing one offline suite. The content delves into the motivations behind why killers kill. Through captivating storytelling and in-depth interviews with experts, it unpacks each case, analysing critical archival footage. Each episode focuses on a single case, offering a detailed and immersive exploration of the story. The series aims to answer the one question on everyone’s mind: “Why did they do it?”
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee the edit suite, providing the editor with clear scripting direction and ensuring all edit deadlines are met, including timely delivery for channel viewings.
2. Collaborate with the editorial team to identify key story beats, determine necessary content to complement archive material, and anticipate additional pickups / GVs to enhance the storytelling.
3. Plan and script interviews with key talent to effectively support and drive the narrative of each story.
4. Review critical documents, including psychiatric evaluations, court reports, medical records, and personal histories, to inform and strengthen the development of the narrative.
5. Fact check scripts ahead of picture lock.
About you
This position is ideal for an experienced and confident EP with a strong background in true crime or factual content production, excellent organisational skills, and a keen understanding of legal and psychological themes in storytelling.
