Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Assist the patient in all activities of daily living, with both direct and indirect supervision as delegated by a registered nurse.
* Maintain patient comfort, dignity and privacy at all times.
* Prepare patients drinks, serve meals and provide assistance as required.
* Assist in the emergency resuscitation of patients, following appropriate training.
* Escort patients to other areas and departments as per Trust escort protocol.
* Maintain high standards of care in an environment which promotes equality and sensitivity for all individuals.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Good basic education.
* Basic IT Skills.
Physical Skills
* Physically capable of performing the role and responsibilities expected of the post holder - e.g., manual handling of patients.
* Able to use initiative to cope in a variety of situations.
* Ability to maintain effectiveness under pressure.
* Able to work as part of a team.
* Act in ways that support equality and value diversity.
Abilities
* Be willing to take part in training and development opportunities.
* Ability to adapt to change within working situation.
* Previous care experience desirable but not essential.
* Able to be flexible in relation to service demands.
Communication Skills
* Communicates with a limited range of people on day to day matters.
