Description As a Ranger or Senior Ranger, you will be at the forefront of community safety, environmental stewardship, and local law enforcement across the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley. This diverse role requires a mix of hands-on fieldwork, community engagement, and regulatory enforcement, with the level of responsibility and complexity varying depending on your experience and the position offered. Ranger : In the Ranger position, your focus will be on the daily operational tasks that help maintain public safety, environmental quality, and compliance with local laws.This role will require travel across the Shire, including overnight stays, and working on a rotating roster that covers weekends and public holidays. Senior Ranger : For those with significant experience, the Senior Ranger role offers the chance to step into a leadership position. As a Senior Ranger, you will not only perform all of the core tasks of a Ranger but also take on the added responsibilities of leadership and providing strategic direction. Both roles will require a strong customer service focus, with the ability to listen to and address the concerns of residents while applying a firm but fair approach to law enforcement. Please note that this position is based in Derby with a base salary range from $69,943 - $82,352 plus generous allowances (up to $15,104), superannuation (11.5% & up-to 7% Council matching), and 5 weeks annual leave. Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) Available to work an agreed roster (including on call) which may be over any seven-day period.
