Teaching Assistant (TA) – Year 1 Support
Location: Sunderland
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Job Type: Full-time (Temporary/Permanent)
Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Sunderland. This role involves providing general classroom support in Year 1 and delivering small intervention groups for literacy, helping pupils reach their full potential.
The Role:
* Supporting the Year 1 class teacher with daily classroom activities
* Leading small-group literacy interventions to boost reading and writing skills
* Encouraging pupil engagement and confidence in learning
* Assisting with classroom preparation and resource organization
* Providing one-on-one support for pupils who require extra help
Requirements:
* Experience working with children, ideally in a primary school setting
* Knowledge of phonics and early literacy strategies is desirable
* A proactive and positive attitude
* Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification (or equivalent) preferred
* Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
