Walsall is implementing the Families First Programme with support from the Department for Education, based on the National Children’s Social Care Review and Stable Homes Built on Love. We are creating a combined, multi-agency locality Family Help Service, building on the strengths of Family Safeguarding model. Our vision is to help children and families at the earliest opportunity, to build relationships, engage whole families and community networks, and work together to achieve change. We have created a new post for a Voluntary and Community Services Lead Coordinator tosupport this journey. This post will have the following key lead areas: To provide support, consultation and hands on assistance in developing networks of support for individual children and families. This is about connecting children and families to services and help in their own communities, and building networks around them. To support work to address community challenges for children and young people, particularly in respect of exploitation, anti-social and offending behaviour, and extra-familial harm and abuse. Building relationships with the voluntary and community sector, and understanding the support available in communities, and how the council can work alongside organisations to support them. Understanding and developing voluntary and community partnerships at a more strategic level, and working to build services and offers for children and families.
