Job description
Safran Landing Systems is the world leader in aircraft landing and braking systems and is at the forefront of contributing to safer, more sustainable aviation for current and future generations. We design, test, manufacture and assemble landing gear used on commercial aircraft including Airbus and Boeing, and UK military aircraft such as the Eurofighter Typhoon.
We now have an opening for a Senior Design Engineer to join our team!
What will I be doing?
As Senior Design Engineer, your role will be to design and detail efficient landing gear systems for civil and military aircraft to meet demanding customer requirements. You will support the design and manufacturing of the landing gear systems across the whole life-cycle.
Key Responsibilities & Duties will include:
• Support all aspects of concept to detail design throughout the life cycle of our landing gear programmes
• Use of up-to-date technology including computer based programmes and systems (CAD, 3D Modelling, 2D Draughting, data management systems)
• Designing to meet exacting customer requirements and industry standards
• Technical presentations to customers
• Interfacing with team members, chief engineers, programme management, manufacturing and colleagues at other Safran sites
• Working closely with manufacturing to reduce non-conformances on products
• Liaise with other sites to assist with the offload of packages of work
• Work towards Design check signatory
• Mentoring/ coaching of junior team members
Travel specificity
Occasional travel may be required to other Safran sites and customers within the UK.
Candidate skills & requirements
• Degree in relevant Engineering discipline an advantage but not essential
• Good knowledge of design and manufacturing processes, preferably related to the aerospace industry
• Fully conversant with traditional and computerised design and analysis methods
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• General computer literacy (Microsoft office)
• Experience of CAD (CATIA V5 preferred, but training will be provided)
• Good knowledge of aerospace materials and manufacturing processes
