Benefit from support and engagement through dedicated management and leadership We are looking to hire a Port Operative to join our Cardiff Port team. This role involves undertaking tasks and operating plant to achieve the safe loading and discharge of various cargos from vessels. Tier System Tier 1: You will start as a Tier 1 operative. Tier 2: After 3-6 months, you will progress to Tier 2 and receive training on the following equipment: Forklift Gantry Crane Mafie Truck Slinger and lifting for Manual Handling Note: Manual handling labour is a significant part of this role, and you must be comfortable performing these tasks. Accountabilities Operate heavy plant and machinery to ensure the safe and efficient handling of cargo. Undergo training to operate new and additional plant and equipment as required to meet customer and operational needs. Engage in the safe movement of cargo in storage areas, warehouses, and on vessels. Assist in the operation of the weighbridge and record and compile administrative information related to cargo movement and handling accessories. Perform cleaning tasks and general maintenance duties to ensure the efficient operation of the port. Undertake duties to aid compliance with licenses for cargo handling. Essential Skills & Experience Full UK Driving License Experience working in a safety-critical environment Heavy industry experience Flexibility with working hours and location Plant machinery experience Working hours Monday – Friday between the hours of 6:00am and 22:00pm, 40 hours a week and up to 12-hour shifts with occasional overtime available.
