We are looking for 5 outstanding Commis Chefs who are looking to take the next step in their career journey.
This is an exciting position for someone to work in our Catering & Retail Services (CRS) team at the House of Lords and will also provide fine dining for some of the country’s elite including Royalty and Members of State as well as the Lords on a regular basis.
This is an opportunity to work in a unique venue in Parliament. You will be using the finest & freshest quality ingredients on a day-to-day basis and yes, you heard this right: all done in the working week Monday to Friday!
As a Commis Chef and a vital member of the kitchen team, you will set out your career path gaining experience, knowledge, and skills within CRS. Along the way, you will be trained and supported by the team working around you. On your journey, you will learn to work in all our outlets within CRS, including the Peers Dining Room (PDR) Restaurant, Barry Room Brasserie, Banqueting, and Staff restaurants.
You will be responsible for assisting the Senior Chefs within the kitchen you are working in, preparing and cooking high-quality food to the highest standards within our Restaurants, Banqueting, and Staff dining services. You will also maintain the highest standards of Food Hygiene.
This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for culinary excellence. Your attitude and hunger will take you a long way within your career.
You’ll be accountable for:
* Ensuring that all equipment is clean, organised, and in good working condition.
* Adhering to strict hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen.
* Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to the restaurant's menu and standards.
* Mastering a wide range of cooking techniques & methods, including grilling, sautéing, roasting, baking, steaming, and poaching.
* Developing your knife skills and techniques for cutting.
* Learning & memorising classic recipes and techniques from different cuisines.
