Lincolnshire County Council currently have an opening for a full time Waste Transfer Station Operative based in Louth for those looking to build a career in Waste Services.
About the role
Lincolnshire County Council has a number of Waste Transfer Stations where waste material is delivered and bulked up prior to being sent for treatment to third party contractors for recycling and to the Energy from Waste facility at Hykeham.
As the Waste Transfer Station Operative, you will be fundamental in supporting the council's high aspirations to protect the environment for the future.
Primarily based at Louth, the work of the Waste Transfer Station Operative includes driving a JCB 437 wheeled loading shovel to assist with the correct storage of bulk wastes and loading bulk haulers ensuring the removal of wastes from site. Other duties include operating the computerised weighbridge and assisting in the general operation of the Waste Transfer Station (WTS) in a safe and efficient manner.
The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday, but flexibility will be required to cover occasional weekend and bank holiday openings and times of staff shortages at Louth and across the county.
About the Team
As the Waste Transfer Station Operative you will be joining a friendly and supportive team dispersed across 5 sites reporting to the Waste Operations Officer.
About you
Ideally you will possess a WAMITAB Certificate of Technical Competence Level 4 – Hazardous Waste Transfer and have experience driving a wheeled loader shovel, with at least two years of experience in waste management. If not, we are able to train you. You'll receive official training support and on the job learning to ensure you are fully proficient within 6 months of joining us. Above all else, we need a can-do attitude and willingness to learn. Proficiency in the MS Office suite, strong communication skills, and a positive approach to work are also essential.
