Main duties of the job
The post is designed to support an experienced Emergency Medicine Specialty Doctor in the Emergency Department based at Arrowe Park Hospital. The post is ideally suited for applicants wishing to pursue a specialty doctor career in Emergency Medicine or to gain further experience prior to applying for a training post.
Working as part of a 24hr middle tier rota, the post holder will be expected to independently assess and manage Emergency Department presentations (in adults and children) under the supervision of the duty Consultant from the hours of 0800 to 0000 and with telephone access to the on-call consultant out of hours, who would return to base as required.

Person Specification
Professional Qualifications
* Full registration with the General Medical Council.
* MCEM or Higher qualification in a related specialty (e.g. MRCP).
Clinical Skills and Experience
* Shall have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty; or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
* Minimum of 12 months working in Emergency Medicine.
* Minimum of 12 months working for an NHS organisation.
* Minimum of 3 months in Anaesthesia and/or Intensive Care Medicine.
* Experience of working in Paediatrics - general or emergency medicine.
* Can demonstrate successful completion of foundation competencies or equivalent.
* Experience in clinical skills complementary to emergency medicine.
Audit
* Proven experience of clinical audit.
* Proven use of audit as a tool to manage a change in clinical practice.
Research
* Commitment to Evidence Based Medicine.
* Previous research experience.
Other Skills
* Provider status on 1 of the following courses: ATLS, ALS & APLS.
* Instructor status on one or more of ATLS, APLS and ALS courses.
* Instructor status on the generic instructor's course.
Communication
* The ability to communicate and liaise effectively, both verbally and in writing, with patients and colleagues.
Teaching
* Demonstrate previous or current teaching experience.
* Ability to motivate and support multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience of teaching medical students and postgraduate doctors in training and multidisciplinary teams.
* Evidence of leadership skills.
* Educational qualification.
Team Work
* Able to demonstrate the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

Salary
£59,175 to £95,400 a year pro rata.
