Cancer Champions Programme Lead
We're looking for a skilled and passionate Programme Lead to support the development, coordination and delivery of a sustainable and effective volunteer cancer champion service. Developing a service alongside funders Macmillan, that increases access to cancer support for identified communities. With the aim of helping people living with cancer to easily access support, improve their knowledge, enabling informed choices to navigate safely and effectively through, from diagnosis, treatment and beyond. This will be through tailored peer to peer support via inclusive and accessible methods.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of the role is to develop a sustainable and effective volunteer cancer champion service that increases access to cancer support for identified communities helping people living with cancer to access support, improve their knowledge, enabling informed choices to navigate safely and effectively through, from diagnosis, treatment and beyond. This will be through tailored peer to peer support via inclusive and accessible methods.
To also scope, analyse and fully understand Parr and Town centre in St Helens community in accessing cancer support and develop a Cancer Champions programme. This will include addressing barriers around support.
The post holder will represent and promote the value of the integrated wellbeing services seeking partnership and unity with key partners in Primary Care and place-based organisations. The role will lead the specific functions as directed by operational managers of the Wellbeing Service, working with the head of service will provide guidance and direction to the relevant work plans.

Qualifications
Essential
* Degree in public health related topic/health promotion or evidence of working practice
* In possession of a post graduate qualification in Public Health/Health Promotion or related subject or possess demonstrable experience of working within public health field at a senior level
* Educated to masters level or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge, skill and experience within Public Health/Health Promotion
* Post graduate diploma in health promotion or a related area reflecting population health/policy or management
Desirable
* Recognised qualification in relation to training provision
Knowledge
Essential
* Significant knowledge of current public health agenda/policy/strategies
* Significant specialist public health knowledge on evidence-based interventions
* Knowledge and understanding of behavioural change methodologies
* Theoretical knowledge of public health models and approaches.
* Knowledge of current public health recommendations, research evidence, good practice - specifically linked to service area
* Knowledge and skills relating to national Performance data reporting and analysis for service development.
* Significant detailed knowledge of public health/health promotion models and approaches
* Demonstrating the importance of confidentiality and antidiscriminatory practice and equality and diversity safe practice and health and safety procedures and their application in practice

* Demonstrable experience of HR policies/procedures

* Significant operational management/development experience including staff management
* Significant demonstrable experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working

* Significant demonstrable experience of recruiting, training and supporting people - either directly managed staff and/or non-managed staff

* Experience of performance analysis
