Job Overview
As a Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse, you are responsible for the assessment and care of respiratory patients, prioritization of treatment, delivery of care, and evaluation. The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care with or without direct supervision, required to demonstrate procedures and to supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff within the department.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Oversee the day-to-day function of the ward.
2. Support the Ward Manager with the day-to-day management of the ward, including ensuring staffing levels are safe and raising concerns to arrange cover when necessary.
3. Support the Ward Manager in managing post holders within the ward establishment.
4. Responsible for leading a team and ensuring you have an appropriately skilled and effective workforce.
5. Flexible approach to working patterns - this post will require rotation to night duty and weekend working, including bank holidays to ensure the units' establishments.

Clinical Skills And Experience
* Leadership and management experience.
* Ability to demonstrate initiative and self-motivation.

* Ability to plan and prioritize own and others' workload when under pressure.
* Evidence of ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
* Recent clinical experience in an acute Trust.
* Experience of working with an electronic patient record and other basic IT systems.
* Clinical supervision experience.
* Project management knowledge & skills. Ability to manage databases.
* Ability to recognize the contribution of members of the MDT.
Qualifications & Training
* RGN qualification.
* Proven and current experience in the Acute Medicine setting.
* Hold registered mentor or teaching/education qualification.
* Clinical competence in IV drug administration, venepuncture & cannulation.
* Mentor Qualification or ENB 998.
* Completion of Preceptorship.

The ability to converse easily and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for all customer-facing roles.
