About the role.
As Head of Engineering at StreamAMG, you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, holding ultimate accountability for engineering delivery and innovation. You will drive growth and profitability through technical excellence, while developing and executing engineering and delivery strategy aligned with our business and product strategy. Your strong hands-on engineering background will be crucial in making technical decisions that drive both engineering excellence and commercial success. Working closely with senior business stakeholders, you will translate business strategy into technical execution while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities.
Delivery Accountability
* Accountable for all engineering delivery across StreamAMG, leading distributed engineering teams and delivery partners.
* Ensure predictable, high-quality outcomes aligned with business goals and drive improvements in metrics: business impact, predictability, quality, and efficiency.
Strategic Leadership
* Develop and execute engineering strategy aligned with business objectives to drive growth and profitability.
* Innovate engineering practices to keep StreamAMG at the forefront of OTT technology and identify and pursue opportunities for technical innovation with business impact.
Platform and Architecture
* Lead platform transformation and drive cloud migration and legacy system modernisation.
* Balance innovation with stability across the technology stack.
Engineering Excellence
* Provide technical guidance for architectural and technical decisions, promoting modern engineering practices.
* Foster technical innovation and continuous learning.
People & Culture
* Build, lead, and inspire high-performing, distributed engineering teams.
* Foster an inclusive culture of innovation and technical excellence.
* Champion equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
* Embed accountability for all products and services through a “build it, run it, own it” approach.
About you.
* Our ideal candidate will need to have a proven track record as a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in:
1. Modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems (Node.js, React)
2. Legacy technologies including .NET
3. MACH architecture principles (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless)
4. Multitenant SaaS/PaaS platforms
5. Open-source technologies and communities
6. Cloud platforms (primarily AWS) and distributed systems
7. Container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
8. Serverless technologies (AWS Lambda)
9. CDNs (Akamai, Cloudfront, Fastly)
10. Event-driven architectures
11. CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
12. Application of AI/ML technologies
1. Experience with video streaming technologies and OTT platforms preferred.
2. History of scaling engineering organisations while maintaining technical excellence.
3. Experience leading geographically distributed engineering teams and managing delivery partners.
4. Experience with cloud migrations and legacy modernisation.
5. Strong understanding of monitoring, observability, and performance optimisation.
6. Practical experience implementing MACH principles in enterprise environments.
7. Demonstrated success driving growth and profitability through technical innovation.
8. Experience managing substantial engineering budgets and teams.
9. Strong history of delivering complex technical projects at scale.
