Product/Process Specialist - Advanced Wastewater Treatment

Wartsila Water and Waste, Water Systems Ltd. is a leading innovator in wastewater treatment technologies, committed to delivering high-quality solutions for sustainable waste management. We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Product/Process Specialist to join our dynamic team.
As a Product/Process Specialist, you will play a crucial role in advancing our wastewater treatment technologies, including membrane technology and other waste treatment methods such as dewatering, drying, incineration, and general waste handling systems. You will support the development and maintenance of our product strategy and roadmaps, ensuring the continued quality, safety, profitability, and performance of our product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Development: Generate and maintain product designs, drawings, calculations, test procedures, and supporting documentation. Ensure product developments are verified and support new product/feature installation, testing, and troubleshooting in the field.
2. Research & Analysis: Conduct exploratory research, competitor analysis, feasibility studies, and assessments of potential new technologies.
3. Product Support: Provide product support to sales, engineering, project management, quality, and services organizations, including support to Field Service Engineers and with warranty and non-conformity investigations.
4. Mentorship: Act as a technical role model, mentor, and trainer to less experienced team members.
5. Problem-Solving: Utilize complex problem-solving skills and thorough, robust, and clear thought processes.
6. Innovation: Suggest and promote new ways of working and/or processes to relevant stakeholders and assist in implementation.
7. Customer & Supplier Interaction: Conduct customer, ship, and supplier visits to support critical product verification and investigation activities. Travel is anticipated to be 10-20% of contracted hours depending on project nature.
General Responsibilities:
1. Produce technical deliverables in support of system process design and explain them to all relevant stakeholders and customers.
2. Provide recommendations for the improvement of products, specifications, installation, and operational procedures.
3. Represent the company's interests professionally and politely while interacting with vessel/shipyard staff, suppliers, or classification societies.
4. Comply with company policies on health, safety, and environmental matters.
5. Demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and written), self-motivation, and accuracy in technical deliverables.
Qualifications:
1. Sound knowledge of advanced wastewater treatment technologies, including membrane technology and other waste treatment methods.
2. Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software packages is an advantage.
3. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conduct thorough research and analysis.
4. Excellent communication skills and ability to mentor and train team members.
5. Willingness to travel (10-20% of contracted hours).
