Job summary We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Dental Therapist to join a highly motivated, professional and supportive Health Inclusion Dental Team. The post Holder will provide dental care to people experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, asylum seekers, prison leavers, sex workers and traveller communities including special care patients with conditions including learning disabilities, physical impairment including obesity, mental health, medically-compromising conditions, and those with social barriers. The successful applicant will join a dynamic team providing a full range of community dentistry working alongside dentists, dental therapists, Hygienists and Dental Nurses. Excellent communication and organisational skills are required along with a flexible approach towards work. A driving licence is essential as there may be occasions when the post holder will be required to work in fixed clinics, on mobile dental units or provide domiciliary care. The successful candidate will have proven experience in a Therapist role and be able to evidence their current skills and knowledge as specified on the person specification. This vacancy is based within the Community Dental Service and will work closely with a variety of health professionals and those working in Cardiff and Vale Health Inclusion Service. Main duties of the job The Dental Therapist will provide a wide range of specialist clinical, restorative, preventive dental procedures and level of dental care to patients with complex needs in challenging environments. Primarily providing dental care to health inclusion cohorts: people experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, asylum seekers, prison leavers, sex workers and traveler communities. Scope of practice will also extend to treating patients with additional needs including special care patients with conditions including learning disabilities, physical impairment including obesity, mental health conditions, medically-compromising conditions and those facing social barriers. The Dental Therapist will be required to work in a fixed or mobile clinic within Cardiff and Vale Community Dental Service. The post holder will deliver direct access in line with current scope of practice. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
