Star Central Internal Job Title: Assistant Subject Improvement Lead - English Strategic Direction and Development Support the implementation of a Trust-wide English curriculum and assessment framework (curriculum plans, lesson plans, teaching resources, assessment materials). Deliver induction training to new Star teachers, Early Career Teachers, and trainees in the subject. Lead efforts to develop the capacity of school leaders and teachers in English through practice clinics, and instructional coaching. Visit assigned schools – as directed by the Director of Curriculum and Assessment and Subject Improvement Lead at an agreed frequency – to reflect the risk of poor outcomes for young people in English. Review assessment data to identify gaps and priorities for school leaders and teachers to address. You will have: An English degree along with Qualified Teacher Status. A National Professional Qualification (NPQ) in middle or senior leadership. An in-depth knowledge of the AQA specification in GCSE English Language and Literature. Experience of delivering outstanding results consistently and a track record of improving results as a subject leader. Experience of developing and delivering high impact intervention programmes. An ability to analyse assessment data and use it effectively to identify and close gaps in learning. Successfully delivered training and coaching for English teachers. A passion for securing life-changing outcomes for young people in disadvantaged communities.
