Job Description:
Mechanical Shift Engineer - Mars Wrigley
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (Base salary + Shift Allowances) + Bonus
Welcome Bonus: £2,500
Rotating Shifts: 32 OR 40 hours (Sat/Sun - 6am - 6pm or 6pm - 6am, plus 8 or 16 hours in the week)
The purpose of a Mechanical Engineer is to maintain conditions of operating equipment by repairing or replacing failed components, troubleshooting and repairing routine mechanical problems on assigned equipment, conducting preventative maintenance on various manufacturing and packaging equipment, and supporting Operations in equipment setup and adjustments.
What are we looking for?
1. Proven experience in diagnosing and fixing mechanical issues within an FMCG environment.
2. Ability to troubleshoot pneumatic, basic hydraulic, machining, and mechanical systems on all process and packaging equipment with minimal guidance.
3. Hands-on attitude with the ability to prioritize workloads effectively.
4. Qualified in an engineering discipline supported by relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul equipment within close tolerances.
2. Perform routine mechanical problem-solving on process & packaging equipment.
3. Conduct Preventative Maintenance (PM's) on Process & Packaging Equipment.
4. Support Operations in equipment setup and training of operators in Autonomous Maintenance (AM) activities.
5. Document Work Orders (WO) using SAP-PPM Plant Maintenance.
6. Communicate effectively with Operators, Peers, Supervisors, and management.
7. Engage in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) through participation in Pillar Teams.
8. Adhere to Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) Procedures and all Plant Safety/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements.
9. Complete risk assessments and formulate method statements to assist in safe undertaking of activities.
10. Maintain and ensure efficient repairs of equipment in a fast-paced work environment.
Key Functional Competencies & Technical Skills:
1. Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and mechanical drawings.
2. Ability to troubleshoot basic pneumatic and mechanical drive systems.
3. Willingness to develop technical skills in welding, basic machinist, and fabrication.
