Who are we: We are Jack in the Box Day Nursery located within Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We pride ourselves on nurturing a positive and supportive environment for our children, and we are looking for a Team Leader, Level 3 qualified to join us on a full-time basis.

Working hours: We are open Monday to Friday, from 7:30am to 6:00pm, closed on Bank Holidays and during the Christmas and New Year period. Our team works on a rota basis, covering 37.5 hours per week typically 7.5 hours per day.
Your role: As a Team Leader, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the nursery, guiding a team of nursery staff, and ensuring high-quality care and education are provided to the children in our care. You will be responsible for overseeing daily activities, supporting the planning and delivery of the curriculum, and ensuring that our nursery continues to meet and exceed the expectations of both parents and regulatory bodies. You will also mentor and develop staff, providing leadership and support in their professional growth.

Main duties of the job
* Maintain the standards of care and learning opportunities for the children supporting the Early Years Foundation Stage.
* Assist the Manager/Deputy Manager with the development and administration of the nursery, and accepting responsibility for this role in the absence of managers.
* Ensure that the highest Health and Safety standards, OFSTED regulations and Organisation policies and procedures are maintained within the nursery.
* Accept full day-to-day responsibility for the efficient running of a specific room, ensuring that all of the children’s needs are met, and that any concerns are identified and communicated to the Nursery Manager/Deputy immediately.
* Supervise Nursery Nurses and Nursery Assistants who work in, apprentices and students in the room that you are responsible for.
* Compile and maintain development records on children and report to the Nursery Manager at agreed intervals. Ensure that all records are accurate, signed and dated.
* Demonstrate and lead good practice with regards to special needs and inclusion, working with the nursery and area INCO as appropriate.
* Open and close the nursery.
* Ensure that the standards of care and education are appropriate for their room and are in line with OFSTED requirements at all times, i.e. Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
* Be a key carer carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families.

Person specification
Education/Qualifications /Training
* NVQ 3 in childcare or equivalent qualification in line with those listed on the ‘qualification finder’ section of www.education.gov.uk.
* An understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Continuous Professional Development
* As stated in the EYFS, a good standard of written and spoken English. Also able to read and understand English such as to follow instructions or interpret a policy.
* In-depth knowledge of safeguarding children and child protection and appropriate protocol.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development including childcare specific training.
* Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
Previous Experience
* Experience of any work which demonstrates the skills required for the post.
* Previous relevant work in childcare.
* Experience of managing a team.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Good understanding of the role of the Key Person.
