GSL Education are delighted to be recruiting for a Teaching Support role at a forward-thinking mainstream secondary school in Fareham, Hampshire. This full-time, permanent opportunity starts in September and is ideal for enthusiastic individuals ready to play a hands-on role in the classroom.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Support Assistant, you’ll work side-by-side with teachers to help deliver engaging lessons and create a supportive learning atmosphere. You’ll play a key part in fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom experience, assisting students of all abilities to access the curriculum, build confidence, and thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide in-class support across a variety of subjects, helping students stay focused and engaged.
* Offer targeted assistance to pupils with learning needs, either individually or in small groups.
* Support teachers with lesson preparation, behaviour management, and classroom organisation.
* Help maintain a productive learning environment that encourages progress and participation.
* Observe, track, and report on student behaviour and academic performance.
* Promote positive relationships between students and staff, encouraging respectful communication and collaboration.
* Uphold the school's safeguarding procedures and ensure student welfare is a top priority.
Job Requirements:
* Prior experience working with young people is beneficial, though not essential, for proactive and motivated applicants.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a caring and patient nature.
* Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively in a classroom setting.
* Suitable for university students pursuing degrees in Education, Psychology, or related fields.
* A strong interest in educational development and inclusion.
* Professionalism, reliability, and a genuine commitment to helping students achieve.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
