Following the expansion of endoscopy services we are increasing our workforce to deliver the decontamination service on Orsett Hospital site. The Endoscopy service will be delivered here until the completion of the Pitsea Community Diagnostic Centre in 2026/27. At that time, the decontamination team will move to deliver the service in Pitsea.
We are looking for enthusiastic people, keen to support the local community with the cleaning and preparation of endoscopy scopes and general organisation of the equipment used in these procedures.
To provide support to the endoscopy unit encompassing a range of duties such as: decontamination of medical equipment, clinical and clerical duties. All duties will be carried out under the supervision and guidance of qualified nurses and other professional staff.
To undertake and successfully complete a program of training relating to the Endoscopy Decontamination and the role and responsibilities of an Endoscopy Decontamination Technician.
To carry out role and responsibilities under the supervision of the Team Lead, nursing and medical staff.

To decontaminate endoscopes and its accessories, including the safe handling of the equipment to and from the Automatic Endoscope Reprocessor and storage drying cabinets escalating processing issues in line with training.
To calculate daily scope requirements for endoscopy lists and to prepare clinical areas accordingly.
To prepare admission packs daily, create patient labels and wristbands for patients using the hospital tracking system.
Ensure that daily cleanliness checks are undertaken and reported in line with protocols.
