CBS helps organisations to decarbonise and save money, with large-scale onsite, behind-the-meter heat and energy solutions that balance planet and profit. Our portfolio of technologies includes Combined Heat and Power, Solar PV and Heat Pumps, which are underpinned by expert Operations and Maintenance Service contracts. The Head of Business Development & Strategy is responsible for driving the long-term growth and success of CBS European Services by identifying and capitalizing on market opportunities within the European energy sector, specifically behind-the-meter energy solutions in the B2B and B2G sector. The role involves developing and executing business strategies, expanding market presence, and building the foundation for sustainable growth across key European countries. This is a high-impact leadership role tasked with guiding the business unit’s future growth trajectory. The role focuses on unlocking growth opportunities through market insights, strategic partnerships, and product innovation, with the ultimate goal of increasing market share and positioning the company as a leader in the energy solutions space. Key Accountabilities Lead the development and execution of CBS strategic growth plans, ensuring alignment with the organization’s overall vision and objectives Identify market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics to guide product offerings and expansion strategies across key European markets Understand the external market and how key competitors are engaging with customers and partners and ensure that CBS responds accordingly in our commercial strategy and activities Build and grow relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, regulatory bodies, and business partners, to support market entry and expansion Research and evaluate market opportunities within the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Italy and Hungary, defining strategies for market entry, product positioning and growth Leads the business development activity across CBS Europe Contribute to the development and implementation of new propositions and commercial solutions to successfully retain and acquire customers, as well as market needs Monitor the financial performance of new market activities, adjusting strategies to meet revenue and profitability targets What We'd Like You To Bring Experience: Multiple years of experience in business development and/or strategic leadership roles, with a strong focus on the European energy markets. Experience in financing sustainable energy solutions behind the meter (asset financing) Languages: Fully proficient in English is required; additional European language is a plus Energy sector expertise: in-depth knowledge of the European energy markets, particularly the behind-the-meter sector (B2B and B2G sector), including regulatory frameworks, market trends, and competitive landscape in key countries (UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Italy and Hungary, but can also extend beyond those countries) Strategic thinking: strong capability to develop and implement market expansion strategies that align with broader business goals and ensure long-term sustainable growth Cross-functional collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively across different functions and geographies to drive business outcomes. Has experience with (working with) marketing Financial acumen: Strong understanding of financial principles, including budgeting, forecasting and profitability analyses to ensure business development activities are aligned with financial objectives.
