We have many reasons to be proud of our existing services for children, young people and their families in Redcar and Cleveland. We have a passionate workforce who are committed to supporting children and young people to feel safe, healthy, happy and ready to learn and achieve. We respect everyone as equally valued members of our community by listening to their views and using their opinions to help shape our services.
We are offering a fantastic opportunity for an Independent Reviewing Officer to join our team. If you are enthusiastic, passionate, committed and want to make a real difference in children’s lives, then we would like to hear from you! This is an opportunity to join us in delivering a high-quality service, improving the lives of children and young people in Redcar and Cleveland and placing children and young people at the heart of everything we do.
As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you will be responsible for providing an excellent service within our Children and Families Directorate, for Children in our Care within the Authority and Children at risk of significant harm. You will be responsible for chairing Child Protection conferences and Children in our Care Reviews, exercising scrutiny and oversight of the Local Authority’s planning and challenging the Local Authority and partner agencies where necessary. You will strive to bring about excellent outcomes for our children. You will be part of an experienced, knowledgeable and supportive team with access to a wide range of training and development opportunities.
Redcar and Cleveland’s Independent Review Unit have launched the ROTH Pilot working alongside Durham University. We are excited to say that you will be provided with the opportunity to work within the pilot as we strengthen a contextual safeguarding framework to support some of our most vulnerable children and their families.
We care about our staff, recognise the importance of training and development and support our social workers to reach their full potential. We have a clear Workforce Development Strategy, with opportunities for professional development and career progression. The authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children/young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an enhanced disclosure & barring service check (DBS) will be sought.
