PRODUCTION MANAGER The Production Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the daily operations of injection moulding facilities across multiple sites. This role takes full responsibility for leading and developing the manufacturing department focused on soap and paper hygiene products, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic plans. The successful candidate will use their expertise to support operational activities, including tooling, clear project responsibilities, and defined accountabilities as directed by the Head of Operations. Effective collaboration across multiple sites is vital, particularly in areas such as tooling, continuous improvement, automation, and printing, alongside ensuring strict adherence to health and safety protocols. This role also involves participating in New Product Development projects, with a particular emphasis on improving products in-market. The Production Manager will work closely with line managers, engineering teams, and quality assurance staff, fostering collaboration to meet departmental and manufacturing objectives. In addition to operational leadership, the role includes responsibility for employee development, focusing on recruitment, mentorship, and creating opportunities for progression. Promoting a positive workplace culture is a key component of the role. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Production Manager will play a pivotal part in executing the business strategy, with a strong focus on LEAN methodologies and continuous improvement to achieve world-class operational standards. PRODUCTION MANAGERS MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and motivate the team, ensuring the right people are in the right roles with the right capabilities. Actively develop talent, mentor employees, and build a strong leadership pipeline. Performance Management: Implement robust performance management processes to recognise and reward high performance, while addressing underperformance effectively. Collaboration: Work closely with quality and engineering teams to ensure products meet specifications and resolve manufacturing issues. Support inter-departmental collaboration for compliance and innovation. Cross-Business Relationships: Develop strong working relationships across the organisation, fostering teamwork and mutual support. Operational Improvement: Identify strengths and weaknesses within operations, proposing future training and development needs in collaboration with the Head of Operations. Project Management: Oversee projects to ensure efficiency, organisation, and cost-effectiveness. Prepare and manage project documentation as required. Continuous Improvement: Drive LEAN and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, financial performance, and operational efficiency. Budget Management: Provide comprehensive cost analysis for project budgeting and ensure adherence to cost controls, preventing unauthorised budget overruns. QSHE Compliance: Champion Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental (QSHE) practices, ensuring full compliance and continuous progression across facilities. Ad Hoc Support: Provide additional support to the Head of Operations as required. PRODUCTION MANAGER'S ESSENTIAL CRITERIA Educated to A-Level standard or holding a relevant BTEC qualification. Experience managing technical teams in mechanical and plastic injection moulding. Proven leadership skills, including motivating and developing teams. Solid knowledge of health and safety practices. Experience in a manufacturing environment, including process/task management. Some experience in mechanical/tooling design. Strong leadership skills with a passion for workforce development. Solutions-driven with a clear understanding of manufacturing and commercial challenges. Excellent attention to detail, multi-tasking ability, and decision-making skills. Ability to mentor and adapt to change. PRODUCTION MANAGER'S DESIRABLE CRITERIA Degree-level education in a relevant discipline. Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent.
