Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Oil and Gas & Chemical team, based in the Brampton office. EXP is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Civil/ Structural Engineer to work in a flexible role that includes engineering and design for various technologies within the oil, gas and chemical sector. The work will include performing a complete range of design from retrofits at existing facilities to leading design team for new greenfield complexes involving permitting support, civil and structural engineering design.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
⦁ Drafts reports, create manhour estimates, etc.
⦁ Communicate effectively internally and externally.
⦁ Ensures that subordinates and colleagues have correctly interpreted that which was communicated.
⦁ Communicate across offices, work with team on large projects in multiple offices.
⦁ Communicate with the client, (inform, explain, cooperate, etc.).
⦁ Organize internal team meetings.
⦁ Responsible for sealing and signing of drawings.
⦁ Handle small to large size projects of varying complexity.
⦁ Responsible for design of structural systems.
⦁ Consult with and oversee work of intermediate and junior engineers.
⦁ Prepare specification documents.
⦁ Understand the project delivery types and their implications on the design process.
⦁ Understand the design time requirements corresponding to the various delivery types.
⦁ Manages the design process and provide deliverables within his/her control on time and within budget.
⦁ Reviews budget/profitability with Project Engineers and Project Managers.
⦁ Understand a variety of finite element software packages and the basic principles behind their usage.
⦁ Brings to the attention of the management any potential work he/she is made aware of by the client.
What your experience looks like
⦁ Minimum ten (10) years of structural/civil experience in oil/ gas and chemical facilities.
⦁ Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering from a Canadian or US accredited university required.
⦁ Professional Engineer (P.E.) license for in Canada or United States.
⦁ Ability to get other Provincial or State PE licenses if requested.
⦁ Detailed software and overall code knowledge required.
⦁ Experience with one or more of the following programs - StaadPro, CADWorx, SmartPlant 3D, Revit, Dyna 6.1, ANSYS, ETABS.
⦁ Proficiency in AutoCAD, is required.
⦁ Proficiency in BlueBeam, is highly preferred.
⦁ Proficiency in MS Word, Excel required.
⦁ Positive team player.
⦁ Self-motivated, detail oriented and client focused.
⦁ Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work collaboratively on multiple projects at once.
⦁ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
