A permanent opportunity for a Contract Works Assessor has become available at National Grid Electricity Distribution in the South West, a FTSE 20 company at the heart of the countries journey to Net Zero. You will be conducting a wide range of inspections including dig & lay, overhead lines, tree work and civil activities. This role is at the forefront of ensuring a safe, efficient and affordable network for our customers by minimising avoidable variations in the original work instruction. If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions. Main Responsibilities This critical role will be responsible for ensuring that work being carried out by our contractor partners is best in class and fully aligns to the initial work instruction and invoiced accordingly. Although working alone to carry out these vital network inspections, you will work very closely with your Team Manager providing detailed and in-depth feedback. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for this role will put health and safety at the forefront of everything they do, understanding that safety is everyone’s responsibility and that we operate a world class Safe to Say culture. You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of, or have the capabilities to build knowledge quickly of the NGED contracts, policies, standard techniques and NGED assets and work activities. Good communication skills will be vital for this role particularly to ensure the building of strong relationships with our contractors and local authorities. Holding a NRSWA qualification or understanding of NRSWA legislation is desirable but full training can be provided. You will need to be mobile therefore a valid driving licence is essential.
