The Bible College of Wales is currently searching for a gardener. We are seeking for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual to lead the efforts in preserving and enhancing the grounds.
The successful candidate will be working under the supervision of the Estate Manager, carrying out a variety of horticulture tasks and taking part in ongoing projects and maintenance. Candidates should enjoy working as part of a team and with the ability to work with deadlines and standards with minimal supervision.
Duties included but not limited to:
• Garden maintenance by watering, weeding, fertilising, pruning and mowing lawns.
• Assist with planting, mulching and transplanting seeds, bulbs, flowers, shrubs, trees, lawns and tending boarders
• Contribute insight to the planning and execution of landscape enhancement
• Weed control
• Perform various landscaping tasks such as moving, trimming and planting
• Assist in hard landscape maintenance, such as paving, fencing, cementing and digging
• Pruning, including hedge cutting with handheld machinery and ornamental pruning with hand tools
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment by establishing organisational standards
• Load, unload and move gardening supplies and equipment
• Grounds maintenance during the winter season
• Uphold a high aesthetic task and health standards for the diverse plant life that graces the estate
Skills & Experiences:
• Ability to communicate and interact well with people
• Flexible in approach to work and willing to work outside in all weather conditions
• Demonstrate competence in mechanical knowledge to operate and trouble shoot groundskeeping equipment
• Experience in garden and landscape maintenance preferred,
• Proficiency in using power tools for grounds maintenance tasks.
• Ability to perform physical demanding tasks (i.e. lifting heavy objects)
• Great attention to details to ensure the grounds are well-maintained
• An entry-level horticultural qualification is desirable.
• Spraying Certificates – NPTC PA1 & (The Safe Use of Pesticides Qualification) and PA6 (Handheld Applicators) qualification.
• Must have driving licence (UK)
• Basic computer skills
