Ysgol Ty Coch is an excellent special school located in Tonteg, 7 miles north of Cardiff and 4 miles south of Pontypridd. The school is currently working to become a Positive Behaviour Support school that is dedicated to improving quality of life for all stakeholders.
The school currently operates from 3 sites. The main site is located in Tonteg with satellite provisions located in Buarth y Capel (Ynysybwl) and the Nantgarw campus of Coleg Y Cymoedd. The successful candidates may be deployed on any of the sites or move between them throughout the day.
The Governing Body of Ysgol Ty Coch are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and hardworking higher level Teaching Assistant who will specialise in behaviour analysis. This post will support the school moving forward with its ambition to become a school effectively uses functional behaviour analysis to improve all pupil’s quality of life. A background of working in a school is an advantage and working with children with special educational needs is essential.

We are looking for a specialist Higher-Level Teaching Assistant who:
Has experience of using Functional Behaviour analysis tools
Is qualified in behaviour analysis and is willing and able to complete the BTEC Diploma in Practice Leadership in Positive Behaviour Support
Can engage well with pupils with additional educational needs.
Understand the importance of a high-quality education for our pupils.
Are confident and capable of forming effective working relationships.
Have high aspirations for themselves, our pupils, and our school.
Are dedicated to improving the quality of life of all children and their families.
Are willing to play with children, support them in their learning and help them make good progress.
Will work closely with teachers and leaders to plan learning programmes for classroom staff to deliver.
Will assist in personal care, feeding, changing where required etc.
Will implement various strategies as instructed by the class teacher or other specialist staff.
Can work as part of a team and understand that maintaining a positive atmosphere is essential.
