Role: Residential Deputy Manager- Children’s Home
Contract: Full Time, permanent
Salary: Up to £33,112.56 (including sleep in shifts)
Location: Penrith
Specific Hours: 42 hours per week - shift pattern on rotation
We are currently seeking an experienced Residential Deputy Manager to join our services based in Carlisle.
North Lakes Children’s Services is a well-established local provider of therapeutic residential care and education for boys aged 6-18. We improve the resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of all the young people we work with.

Main Duties
* Responsible for ensuring that the Statement of Purpose is in place, reflecting the appropriate needs of young people in the home and outlining the qualifications, experience, and expertise of the staff employed within the home.
* Responsible for ensuring a full flow of information into and out of the team and developing effective communication strategies and systems to assist staff in their duties.
* Responsible for the effective management and development of quality direct services to young people, ensuring that the policies and procedures of North Lakes Children’s Services are implemented.
* Ensure that staff training and development needs are identified and met, assisting in training staff as required.
* Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Regulations in accordance with North Lakes Children’s Services policies, procedures, and practices.
* Regularly inspect the condition of the structure, fabric, furnishings, and fittings of the building to ensure that all necessary equipment is in good working order and of an acceptable standard of repair.
* Ensure effective finance budgets, control, administration, and records comply with North Lakes Children’s Services expectations and procedures.
* Promote and implement the company's Equality and Diversity policies and ensure that staff understand and implement the company's Child Protection Procedures.
* Quality Assurance - Set, monitor, and evaluate standards at individual, team performance, and service quality.
* Communication - Establish and manage team communications systems ensuring that company procedures, policies, strategies, and objectives are effectively communicated to all team members.
* Professional Practice - Ensure that professional practice in the team is carried out to the highest standards and developed in line with the company’s objectives of continual improvement in service quality.
* General Management - Provide vision and leadership to staff within a specialist team, ensuring effective systems for workload allocation and management, application of company policies, and all aspects of performance, personal development, health, and welfare.
* Financial Management - Manage a designated budget ensuring that the company achieves value for money through monitoring and control of expenditure and early identification of any financial irregularity.
* Supervision and Appraisal - Ensure that all members of staff receive supervision and appraisal, following the company’s procedure.

* Confidentiality - All staff are required to maintain confidentiality regarding personal and/or confidential information accessed during the course of work.
* Induction - North Lakes Children’s Services has an induction programme that includes a CWDC 2-day course to help new employees become effective in their roles.
All Applicants must have:
* An understanding of the issues that face young people in care.
* Hold Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
* Excellent communication and listening skills.
* Willingness to learn.
* Able to work well as part of a small team.
* Willingness to undertake a DBS check at enhanced level if successful. The DBS check will be paid for by us.
* Experience with Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work, or Youth Work would be advantageous.
* A full, clean UK driving licence and the ability to cover at other Residential Homes as needed.
* A sleep-in allowance of £62.64 per night, with potential extra earnings of up to £3257.28.
* Shift Rotation: 2 days on, 2 days off, with staggered start times ranging from 8 am, 12 noon, or 2 pm.
