J Mayflower Theatre is the largest theatre on the South Coast with 2,271 seats in the auditorium. The Theatre’s aim is to bring a diverse range of shows to Southampton. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and organised individual to join our Participation Department as an Education Team Programme Leader. You will lead our creative education work with schools and educational providers, as well as supporting the wider participation department. Your main responsibilities will be: To lead the Education Team. To plan and deliver school workshops, events, talks and tours in connection with production, resident and associate partnerships as appropriate. To programme and manage a series of projects focused on creative careers. To lead on teacher CPD workshops and events. To launch our RSC Associate School programme. To deliver our venues Southampton City Council Adult & Community Learning Programme. Our ideal applicant will: · Be educated to a degree level in drama, performing arts or an arts-based subject or equivalent qualification or experience. · Have at least 2 years’ experience leading on school or community engagement projects. · Have a good understanding of the school curriculum. · Have experience of leading small teams. · Have good administration skills, project co-ordinating arts-based projects with young people. · Have excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure with a flexible approach. · Be a team player with ability to respond to the needs of a changing environment. · Be proficient in Microsoft packages inc. word, excel and outlook. The role will be offered based full time maternity cover (1 year), 37.5 hours per week, evening and weekend working will be required, 5 days a week and £27,000 hourly/salary rate with benefits.
