About this opportunity
Based at Penrith but also working from home as required, you will undertake project work, administrative support tasks and provide assistance to the Senior Emergency Planning Officers, and other Joint Emergency Management and Resilience (JEMR) Team members, to ensure that Cumbria’s Councils comply with its statutory duties under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and other relevant legislation by working effectively across the organisation and its partners, for example, Cumbria Police.
The posts include providing support for preparing emergency plans, organising exercises, delivering training courses, and conducting debriefs. It is essential that you can express yourself clearly and persuasively both orally and in writing. A duty officer system is in operation and you will be expected to respond should an emergency occur. You will need to be based within Cumbria or in close proximity, and to be able to travel independently and extensively throughout the county.
You will need to be an experienced ICT user including Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to work alone and use your initiative. Proven organisational skills are essential.
