In this role, the successful candidate would be working as part of the M&E Design team giving their electrical design input to deliver projects from concept through to completion. The projects are varied and range from electrical supply upgrades, solar PV designs, LED lighting and decarbonisation schemes such as Air Source Heat Pumps replacing fossil fuel heating systems. We also support technically support large multinational contractors on a consultation basis.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to developing the M&E design of engineering services and systems within the built environment, in the education, industrial and commercial sectors.
* Produce electrical designs, calculations and drawings for a wide range of projects.
* Use AutoCAD to generate working drawings for construction projects.
* Prepare reports which support design concepts.
* Demonstrate design compliance to relevant standards and best practice guides.
* Produce electrical engineering specifications for a wide range of projects.
* Conduct site surveys to inspect existing installations to ensure regulatory compliance.
* Conduct site audits for in-flight projects to review progress, quality, and performance against plan.
* Attend and participate in client and site meetings.
* Attend and contribute to M&E design team meetings.
* Attend department meetings, participate in time management and workload planning activities.
* Contribute to Solar PV feasibility studies through to RIBA Stage 4 design and monitoring installation.
* Build relationships with clients through good communication and output.
* Positively integrate into the M&E team and be helpful and supportive.
* Be a positive influence on the team.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential:
* Able to manage/prioritise workload to meet deadlines whilst maintaining good communication with clients and design teams.
* Good working knowledge of industry regulations, electrical design, and installations.
* Good working knowledge of utility services, both new connections and disconnections.
* ONC/HNC in electrical engineering or equal professional qualifications.
* Experience in electrical engineering, engineering consultancy and/or electrical installations.
* Experience in design calculation software packages: AutoCAD, Dialux, Relux, Amtech.
* Proficient in Solar feasibility studies and/or design.
* Computer literate (Microsoft products).
* Please note: DBS check required for this position.
Desirable:
* Project leading / client facing experience.
* Project management/leading building service projects.
* Experience in BIM projects and Revit modelling.
* Experience in renewable technology and renewable systems.
* Knowledge of PV Sol or similar software.
